Website building
One of the first questions you may have and I know I had, when you start is whether or not to build your own website or have someone do it for you. What do you do? There are several ways to go about the process of getting a website.
Web Hosting
One of the easiest ways is to simply pay a monthly fee to someone like yahoo or many other big
companies that have ready made "templates" or websites that you can put your name on and personalize to a degree. This is very simple and gets you started. If all you want to do is to be able to sell a few items or talk to friends and post your photos. this could work for quite a while. If however you want to make a website that is strictly your own and is not tied to anyone or anything else, this will not do for long. What then are your options?
The process of building a website is much simpler and "user-friendly" than it used to be, thank God!
You can get a web host that has a builder which you can personalize and this is better than the totally
pre-made templates that most starter sites offer. If however you are more technically adept and desire to
learn the best way is to buy some software that is designed for this purpose. Macromedia Dreamweaver,
Microsoft FrontPage, NVU and XsitePro are all designed to help you in this regard. These are
solely created to help individuals in designing professional websites.
You must be patient and understand that it will take a while to fully understand how to use these programs and there are all a bit different form each other so it is
best to use one at a time and get very familiar with it before you move on to the next one. I personally like Xsitepro for its ease of use and its search-engine-friendly features. You will get to know what
that means later, but find one you like and can afford, and start to learn and grow. Soon you will have a site up and then perhaps many more to come.
This software does cost between two to five hundred dollars, but if you have the intention of making more than one site, you will quickly save that amount of money by doing it your self.
